Welcome to the birth of my website & blog!

Introductions seem like the logical place to start. I’m Dr Abbey Wiseman; a Chiropractor based in Brisbane, Australia.

I completed my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University in Sydney and certified in Applied Kinesiology. I am a also Retained Neonatal Reflexes Practitioner and have recently completed a two year Diplomate in Chiropractic Neuro-Developmental Paediatrics (a big name that means the study of neurological development in children from a chiropractic perspective).

For me, education is a continuing passion. Over the last eight years, this passion has been consistently fuelled by the patients that I see and my desire to be able to provide the most effective and safe care possible – independent of age.

Simply put – I apply my understanding of development and neurology to a range of chiropractic tools and complementary techniques so the human body can achieve more of its potential.

The approach to treatment can vary for many reasons so care is individualised according to each patient’s structural and physiological needs. For some, optimal spinal alignment and taking pressure off the nervous system with gentle adjustments is key. While for others, it may be addressing nutrition, breathing, exercise and movement. Most of the time, I find that it is a multi-faceted approach that achieves the best results.

Ido Portals statement that “if you don’t use it, you lose it” is one of my mottos in life. Inspired by this idea, I believe that embracing healthy philosophies in life is paramount for healthy bodies and healthy brains.  While it is important for adults to consider, it is even more important for nurturing our children (and future children) with unhindered development.

My philosophies in life are:

Move the body well and regularly  This means getting adjusted, don’t sit too long and get daily exercise.

Have healthy belief systems  These should include positive outlooks, goals and view of yourself.

Get the right nutrition  This is required for firing up the nervous system, maintaining energy and aiding detoxification.

Live in a healthy environment   Finding the healthiest environment possible is essential for optimising health.

I have seen amazing changes in my patients (infants to adults) who have adopted this very lifestyle. Over the years, I have been inspired by many of my patients, but none more than some of the children I have seen.  Many of these children, against all odds, have defied their initial diagnosis due to the commitment, determination and holistic (and multi-faceted) approach of their parents. To them, I dedicate this quote;

“It is necessary that we believe that the child is very intelligent, that the child is strong and beautiful and has very ambitious desires and requests. This is the image of the child that we need to hold. Those who have the image of a child as fragile, incomplete, weak and made of glass gain something for themselves. We don’t need that as an image of children.”  Loris Malaguzzi
